Easter Brunch Ideas
|
Easter is a great time to invite family and friends
over to celebrate being together. Invite them over after Easter
morning church. Brunch is a great way to combine breakfast and lunch
and have some fun. This is also a way to bring in the Spring season
and celebrate Easter at the same time.
Decide on a time you'd like to host this, right after the Easter
service would be ideal. Many people attend this service and can just
follow you on over after. 11:30 would be a great time for brunch. If
everyone attends the same church that you are inviting you could do
this by word of mouth or even a small announcement in the church
bulletin. If you are going to send out invitations do so a week
before your brunch. Invitations can be created using a card program
or Microsoft® Publisher.
Ask your family and friends to pitch in and help out in order to
make the whole event go a lot smoother than if you try to do it
alone. These duties should include: have someone bring decorations
and/or help set them up, have some people bring plates of food,
bring entertainment such as CDs, and paper supplies. Children will
be a great help with setting up the decorations. Potted Easter
plants will add great decor to your living room. Kids can also draw
and color paper eggs to be used as decorations. Make sure they use
thumbtacks and not tape put decorations on the wall.
A CD player will work just fine for the entertainment. Remember to
set the mood as a joyful event. Choose upbeat CDs of happy songs or
your favorite hymns. Don't have the music so loud as it's intruding
but rather have it as a soft background.
To have a balanced brunch you can include both some breakfast foods
and light lunch foods as well. If you feel up to cooking everything
yourself this is one option, or have your guests each bring a dish.
If you choose to have your guests bring something then allow them to
choose form a list so you don't get duplicates. Popular items
include: a sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast casserole; cinnamon
rolls; eggs Benedict; and waffles or French toast for breakfast.
Have a few different types of salads. Sliced meats such as turkey
and ham would go well. Macaroni salad, shrimp or chicken would work
well too.
Whatever you plan for the brunch, make it inviting and relaxed. You
certainly don’t have to impress with an elaborate setup. Let your
friends and family mingle and share memories of Easter holidays
past.
