Easter Egg Decorating - Without The Mess
|
Every year hundreds of thousands of children
experience the joys of dunking a plain white shelled egg into a bowl
full of color and watching it transform almost like magic. Some tips
to keep the mess to a minimum would prove helpful, here they are.
1. Stickers. If you (and your kids) don't have your heart set on the
traditional method of decorating eggs then using stickers is an easy
way to keep the mess down. There's practically nothing to clean up
after your done too. There's no technique you have to develop for
them to look just right either. You can find Easter themed stickers
at your local craft or dollar store, then just stick them on the
eggs and you’re done!
2. Dying Eggs. Instead of sitting at the kitchen table where it is
more likely than not to get very messy, try using the stove. Mix the
dye ingredients in a five-quart Dutch oven. Have each child wear an
apron. Allow your child to take eggs that have been hard-boiled and
then allowed to dry and then dip them into the dye solution. A spoon
with slots in it will work best to remove the dyed eggs from the
pan. As the liquid dye runs off the spoon through the slots you will
get less mess on the eggs, in the spoon and on everyone involved!
Use the spoon to place the eggs back into the carton and then put
the carton into the fridge until it's time to use them.
3. Working On The Floor. If you're sitting on the ground there is
much less chance of major drops and spills. Use an old vinyl
tablecloth to put on the floor. Make sure each child has their own
apron and a pair of gloves. Latex gloves work best and can be bought
at a drug store or medical supply store. By having gloves the
children can use their hands to dip the eggs in the dye instead of
using a spoon. After the eggs are finished just have the kids throw
the gloves in the garbage.
4. Use an Easter Egg Kit. PAASŪ has put out a lot of egg decorating
kits over the years. Every year they seem to come up with something
to make the whole egg-decorating process easier. You can even buy
mess-free kits. There are patterns you can get to place on the eggs
and have them patterned. You can even get eggcups with dippers
attached so you don't need to use spoons or any other rigged up
tools. You can purchase PAASŪ products wherever decorating items are
sold, including most grocery stores and craft stores.
Egg decorating is great for everyone, but no one likes to clean up
at the end. Make it easier on yourself this year, Mom and Dad. Try
these tips for some good clean fun.
