Choose Virginia Beach for your family vacation this summer – 10 reasons why!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Family vacations.\u00a0 They are as standard for most Americans as apple pie and baseball!\u00a0 I can remember as a kid writing to various visitor\u2019s bureaus and getting fliers and pamphlets in the mail from places I dreamed of visiting some day.\u00a0 Imagine my thrill as a youngster when, one year, our family actually went to one of those places … and it turned into one of our favorite destinations!<\/p>\n

Well, Virginia Beach<\/a> is one of those places that should be on every American family\u2019s \u201cmust visit\u201d list.\u00a0 And here are 10 reasons why you should choose Virginia Beach this summer!<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 It\u2019s within driving distance!\u00a0 Granted, if you live in California it\u2019s quite a drive but it\u2019s doable and with airline costs and the situation with airport security these days, more and more families are choosing driving over flying.\u00a0 The drive into Virginia Beach<\/a> from anywhere west is absolutely gorgeous in itself.\u00a0 As they say, there\u2019s joy in the journey alone!<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 It\u2019s historical.\u00a0 As they say on the \u201cVisit Virginia Beach\u201d website<\/a>:\u00a0 \u201cSince the first American settlers, locals and visitors alike have been roaming the shores of Virginia Beach in search of adventure. It’s that same pioneering spirit that has defined our culture and beckons us all to live the life.\u201d\u00a0 I love the fact that when you are in Virginia Beach, you\u2019re walking along the same shores that the original settlers of our country did so many many years ago!<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 There is a beach.\u00a0 Really.\u00a0 Enough said there.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 Great food!\u00a0 Can anyone say FRESH seafood?\u00a0 And even if you\u2019re not a fish lover, as a popular tourist destination Virginia Beach boasts thousands of fabulous restaurants in all price categories and varieties of food choices!<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0 FREE concerts!!!\u00a0 This is something I didn\u2019t realize but Virginia Beach offers Symphony by the Sea concerts all summer long!\u00a0 And they\u2019re free.\u00a0 Pick up a picnic dinner and you and your kids can listen to great music while enjoying the cool evening on the beach.\u00a0 I love it!<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0 Close to other great destinations.\u00a0 Since you\u2019ve taken the time to drive all the way to Virginia Beach, don\u2019t just stop there.\u00a0 Visit some fabulous places like Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg (our personal favorite) and more.\u00a0 So much to see for the whole family!<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0 Fabulous Fishing.\u00a0 Ok, I\u2019ll admit. I don\u2019t \u201cget\u201d fishing but I have a lot of friends who absolutely love it and from what I hear, it doesn\u2019t get much better than fishing in Virginia Beach!<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0 Divine Lodging.\u00a0 No matter what your price range, Virigina Beach has the lodging option your family needs for a great family vacation.\u00a0 Vacation homes, bed and breakfast lodging, traditional hotels or camping… you\u2019ll find what you need in Virigina Beach!<\/p>\n

9. Great golf:\u00a0 Virginia Beach is the home to golf courses designed by some of golf’s greatest players.\u00a0 So pack up your clubs and get going!<\/p>\n

10.\u00a0 The Beach.\u00a0 Did I mention that Virginia Beach has beaches?\u00a0 Pack up some shovels, pails and watch your kids spend an entire day having fun without ever asking to turn on a TV or a video game.\u00a0 And they\u2019ll ask to go back and do it again the next day too!<\/p>\n
