In college I made my first trek to Colorado with some girlfriends. A quick road trip. From Illinois.  In a beat up old Fiat car… four of us and all our luggage.  I’m surprised the thing made it up into the mountains. But it did.

We drove to visit a friend of one of the girls who was going to school near Crested Butte.  I still remember driving there.  I was in awe.  It was quite overwhelming.  I never in my life had seen such tremendous beauty.  The “kids” who lived there who were with us kept laughing at me.  I was sad for them because they didn’t appreciate all the amazing beauty.  I still get choked up about it.  And I promised myself that some day I would go back.  20 years later and I still haven’t been back. Until now…hopefully.
