When my kids were young, they participated in a program called KinderMusik here locally. It was absolutely fabulous and set the foundation for their piano skills now. Both girls are quiet accomplished on the piano and can pick up other instruments and play them pretty quickly – because they learned to read music early on.
There are plenty of studies that you can find with the click of your mouse about the benefits of children learning to read music and learning to play a musical instrument during their growing up years. Little ones can quickly learn the concept of fractions without even knowing it by learning about whole, half and quarter notes and beyond as they learn proper music counting, etc.
But learning the notes is not easy – it takes work. That’s why I was glad when I discovered this little ebook today and I wanted to pass it on to you.
It’s written by a piano teacher who has made note reading easy and fun for kids. They’ll learn both bass and treble clef (maybe you’ll learn a little something too if you don’t know what that means) and it even comes with some embeded sound clips in the ebook to help the kids learn on different levels. I like that idea.
She’s got some cool bonuses listed there as well so check it out.
