10 Tips for making your life easier and more efficient while on the go

You’re a mom… you’re ALWAYS busy. It’s time to just face facts and reality that this is how your life will be for quite some time. Your schedule, your husband’s schedule, your kids’ schedules on top of the many requirements of running house and home. We’ve got some great tips to help you manage your time … and enjoy it too!

1. Convenience Foods. Mind you, I prefer the natural and minimally processed foods as much as possible but that doesn’t mean you can’t help to make them convenient. When you get home from the grocery store, take a few minutes to cut up the vegetables and put them in individual zip lock bags, making them easy to grab when in a hurry.

2. Give your kids “ownership” of their snacks.  This can be as simple as putting a labeled box or bag in the fridge for each of your kids.  Help them to determine what to put in the bag early in the week and when they come to you with an “I’m hungry” you can just send them to their own personalized snack bag!

3. Give your kids “ownership” of their wardrobe.  A simple system for clothing can be created with colored hangers.  Use step stools or gadgets that lower the closet bar so your children can reach their clothes easily.  And don’t sweat it if they don’t “match” as well as you’d like.  They’ll grow into their fashion sense.

4. Lay out clothes for the little ones who can’t manager their own every morning.  Pretty easy!

5. Menu plan for a week or month. I’m amazed at how much time this simple step can save. By writing out your lunch and dinner schedule for the week (or month if you’re able) you’ll be able to make out a comprehensive shopping list which will not only save you time at mealtime but also at the grocery store.

6. Keep your purse in the car. If you’re lucky enough to have a locked private garage, don’t bother bringing your purse inside each time you come home from running errands or the store. Just keep your purse stored in the car at home and you won’t be searching for it.

7. Plan your chores and work your plan.  Even Ma Ingalls had a weekly plan for all her chores.  Laundry on Monday, sweeping on Tuesday, bathrooms on Wednesday, etc.

8. Enlist the help of your kids with more of the work around the house.  They can do a lot more than you think they can!

9. Take mini-breaks and have fun! Don’t forget fun items that you can keep at home like Seattle’s best Coffee – Iced Lattes! Here’s a coupon! Click to save $1.50 on a 4 pack today!

10. Use a key hook.  Don’t spend time searching for your keys every time you need to go out.  Get a simple hook system close to the door so you can hang your keys, and retrieve them, at the same spot each time.

Some of the most efficient things are the simplest things to help make life easier and more enjoyable for you and your entire family.  Do you have some tips that help keep you on task?
