My rating: 4 stars My review: I’m a letter writer and a pen and paper fan, to say the least. I actively mourn the fact that the internet has replaced most non-verbal communication and miss the days of running to my mailbox to find a long letter from a good friend or pen pal and have spent the last few years making sure that I communicate via letter at least 3 times a month to friends, family and strangers. Part of the fun of sending letters and cards is making sure the envelope looks especially appealing since it’s in the midst, most of the time, of junk mail and bills wrapped in only white. I do this by adding rubber stamping, various colors of ink for the address and unique and adorable postage stamps.

My handwriting isn’t horrible, which is good, but I’ve always been intrigued by gorgeous calligraphy. One of my dearest friends is a professional calligrapher (click here to see her site) and her envelopes need no rubber stamping or fancy designs because the address alone is a piece of art. So that’s why I’m excited about this book. Each page offers a short tutorial with large example on the opposite page. The reader will learn only one basic script (it is a short book, after all) with tips to continue to perfect that script and add flourishes, designs and more.
